Men and Relationships
Men & Relationships 16TH to 18TH MAY 2008
A residential workshop for men who wish to deepen their understanding of themselves and their relationships in a safe and trusting environment, where the emphasis is on feelings and experience, rather than intellect.
The purpose of this workshop for men is to explore and address the relationship issues faced by men including:
- How do I relate to society, those around me, wife, family, partner and myself?
- How do my fears impact on my relationships?
- How can I communicate better with my family, partner and those around me so that they feel valued, understood and appreciated?
- How can I relate better as a father? What do my kids most want from me as their father?
- How to effectively deal with my anger and stress in my relationships?
This is a residential weekend for men to discuss and learn about what it is that creates effective relationships.
Relationship difficulties are a recurring theme in many men’s lives. It is an area where many men need to make changes.
This is an opportunity to work on and improve the way we relate to those around us and to our selves.
Activities, exercises and processes offered will be a mixture of “serious” and “fun.” Drumming, movement, creative expression and celebration will vitalize the weekend.
This weekend is a safe and confidential place that provides an opportunity for growth through the sharing of our experiences. The workshop will allow you to:
- Explore the causes of your pain, disappointment and self-destructive attitudes.
- Recapture your hopes and dreams by taking personal responsibility for your actions and your life.
- Bring about self worth, respect and personal value by reclaiming your personal power, dignity and self-esteem.
- Find power from a place of inner strength, rather than control of the world around you.
Men's Support Group
This workshop includes 8 follow up sessions for all participants to help form an ongoing men’s support group.
A safe, confidential and trusting environment forms within the group during the weekend. Trust, friendship and mutual understanding help create a sense of belonging, which continues to grow by men being part of an ongoing support group. This deep level of support from men may never have been experienced before and can be life changing.
As Steve Biddulph says in Manhood, “ To make personal change easier, and to make global change possible, we have to build and belong to a community of men who are working towards similar goals. If you want your life as a man really to get moving, then you could get a lot out of a men’s group.”
“The self-made man is a myth – we all need the help of others to make and sustain change.”
